This Sunday at Rock Candy: Basketball! “What’s this?” you say. “Rock Candy has a basketball court? Why, what DOESN’T go on at Rock Candy?” Well, the answer to that is: basketball. Basketball does not go on at Rock Candy. At least not the kind where you break a sweat. However, if you want to watch an excellent basketball documentary on a screen big enough for you to really enjoy the action… well, my friends, THAT does go on at Rock Candy. This Sunday at 2:00, we’re showing “Gunnin’ for That Number 1 Spot”:
Directed by Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys), the documentary trails young basketball stars on the fast track to the NBA, as they are being groomed to be in the spotlight of a multi-million dollar game. Combining Yauch’s unique directing style with raw hip hop music, GUNNIN’ highlights these soon to be NBA All Stars.
Seats are free for this one, but they’re limited, so please let us know you’re coming by emailing info@rockcandybaltimore.com or calling 443-919-4527.
The Sweet Stocking Workshop! On Friday, November 28, from 2:00 to 4:00, our good friend Meaghan (best known for the gorgeous Sugar High line of earrings you can now find right next to Joel’s head at the register) will be hosting a stocking workshop for kids. Bring your little ones in to decorate Christmas stockings, and if you leave them with us at the end of the day, we’ll have Santa make an early stop through Baltimore and fill them with candy so you can pick them up on December 20. (We have connections - Santa loves the Bread & Chocolate bar.) The workshop is $5 per kid; please take a look at the flyer below for all the details.
Cocoa, S’mores, and the Miracle on Main Street! On Saturday, December 6, as Hamilton and Lauraville celebrate our “Miracle on Main Street” with Holidays on Harford, we invite you to come in from the cold for a little while and get cozy at Rock Candy. After Santa makes his last stop at 2:30, we’ll warm you up with Vosges’ spicy Aztec hot cocoa, and we’ll be bringing our own special fancy touch to classic s’mores. You thought they were tasty with plain old Hershey bars; wait ’til you taste our Red Fire s’mores, Black Pearl s’mores, and what is soon to be a Lauraville tradition: the bacon-bar s’more. We bet you won’t be able to leave without buying some of everything to take home for your own cozy winter nights.
And speaking of miracles… We would certainly be remiss in our duties as the owners of Lauraville’s only candy-store-that-is-also-a-movie-theater if we let an event like Miracle on Main Street go by without bringing you its namesake on the big screen. On the 6th, after you’ve filled your tummy with delicious gourmet chocolate treats, sit back, relax, and watch Miracle on 34th Street. The show starts at 4:00 and seats are only $5.00. As usual, they’re limited, so RSVPing is a must!
The Holiday Fun Doesn’t Stop! We’ll be hosting more bargain holiday matinees later in December. Stay tuned for details!
